Upload main image here: ![]() ![]() | Potters fans turned out in huge numbers yesterday to cheer on the promotion-winning side on their open-top bus tour through Stoke´s city centre. Stoke´s goalless draw against Leicester City at the weekend was enough to get them automatic promotion to the Premier League, the first time they have been in the top-flight for 23 years. At least 14,000 fans waited at the Britannia Stadium to hail their heroes. Goalkeeper Steve Simonsen told the Stoke Sentinel: "It´s out of this world. We knew there would be a fantastic turnout, but this is incredible. "Seeing how happy the people are makes you realise what you do it for. They are once-in-a-lifetime scenes, seeing little babies waving alongside old age pensioners. "It´s an absolute pleasure to be a part of something that has touched so many people." Fellow keeper Carlo Nash added: "I didn´t realise there was this many people in Stoke! It´s a fantastic turnout and shows how much it means to the fans." ![]() ![]() ![]() |
